I changed over from Final Notepad to Musescore, to more easily export sound, and it gave me more flexibility in the notation too.

Absolutely. And perhaps from the outside it could appear to be a pointless exercise. However in my experience it has opened up some interesting doors.You get a different feeling about the material when you work so close with it don't you?
