Organic Music Theory
I just discovered that one of the authorized LCC instructors, Ben Schwendener, has written a book. I don't think it is specifically about the LCC but I'm sure the influence permeates it: https://www.amazon.com/Organic-Music-Th ... 0984921672

Re: Structure versus Function
Yes, great quote Nate. Do you mind sharing the source?
I think 'conscious tonal gravity' must be what later was referred to as 'super-vertical tonal gravity'. I'm very fond or George's terminology and it's amazing how his nomenclature changed over the years.

Re: Was there a second volume?
I've noticed a plethora of shaky 'tutorials' about the LCC on YouTube.

Re: Was there a second volume?
Unfortunately the second volume will never come out...I believe that was stipulated in Mr. Russell's will. The best you can do is to familiarize yourself with the section regarding Horizontal Tonal Gravity, from the 1959 (1964 revised) editions. Even better would be to take a Skype lesson from Ben S...

What page are you referring to?
You may be referring to the sixth mode of the harmonic minor scale. It's actually:
I #II III #4567

Re: ML's post @AAJ, nice voicings, question about the CDR
Your question is essentially about making sense of the Parent Scale choice. This is a VTG topic. CDR is a description of behavior in HTG or SVTG. Your solution, treating the Ab7 chord as belonging to the II PMG is certainly the most ingoing and a natural starting place. The LCC provides (as does any...

Maybe I was waiting too much from this concept.

If you expect the Concept to be the beginning and end of music theory resources you will be disappointed. If you take it as it is, you will be rewarded.
BTW listen to George Russell's music!

Re: Can we actually omit the fifth in a ladder?
The Circle of Close To Distant Relationships doesn't omit the order of consecutive Perfect Fifths. The Vertical Order does makes the bII the caboose. The explanation for this is to accommodate chord types (this is explained in book). A basic understanding of VTG and HTG is necessary to understand th...
